Why do I Need a Mommy Makeover?
A mommy makeover is designed to reverse the changes a woman's body experiences with pregnancy. The hormones of pregnancy, the weight gain, and subsequent breast feeding cause the breast tissue itself to enlarge. As the breast tissue enlarges, the skin of the breast stretches. When pregnancy and breast feeding are completed, the breast tissue shrinks down again, but the skin does not. As a result, many women are left with breasts that were not as perky as they were before the pregnancy.

As the baby grows inside the mother, the expanding uterus pushes against the muscles of the abdominal wall and stretches them. This stretching can weaken these muscles. In addition, the skin overlying the uterus is stretched as well. This is what so many women miss. Magazine articles constantly proclaim how this star "lost the baby weight" and show pictures of perfectly flat stomachs. The reality is far different. Eating right and exercise will help you lose the "baby weight", but it will not make the skin on your tummy shrink down. Once it has been stretched, it will not shrink all the way back. In addition for many women, the abdominal muscles have been so stretched by the pregnancy that no amount of sit ups or time in the gym will make them effective at preventing a tummy pouch.

What Can a Mommy Makeover Do to Fix These Problems?
A mommy makeover is designed to correct the excess skin in the breast that developed during pregnancy. Removal of the excess skin, allows for a firming up and lifting of the breasts. This creates a look and feel to the breasts that is similar to their look and feel before pregnancy.

The mommy makeover does two things to the tummy to help it look similar to the way it did before the pregnancy. First, the muscles of the stomach are tightened. This helps hold the contents of the abdomen in tighter, creating a flatter appearing stomach. Next the extra skin that developed in pregnancy is removed so that tummy area has a much smoother feel.

What Should I Expect After I Make My Consultation?

He will answer all of your questions and tell you everything to expect from the time that you book your mommy makeover until you are back up and on your feet.

After your mommy makeover consultation in the Southlake office, Dr. Obaid will schedule your surgery. On the morning of surgery, Dr. Obaid will meet with you again and go over everything to expect that day and in the recovery period. The first evening following your mommy makeover, Dr. Obaid will have you stay at the center so that a nurse can care for whatever needs that you may have. By the next morning, most women feel well and are up and around the room and are eating and drinking well. Dr. Obaid will allow you to return home the morning following your mommy makeover. He will see you back in his Southlake office one week following the mommy makeover. At that time, he will make sure you are healing well. You will be feeling great and amazed at the change!
