Enjoy a Fun Family Night Out at the Heard Museum Holiday Trail of Lights

There are so many things that make the holiday period special, and the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary Holiday Trail of Lights has added to the mix of magical events for the last six years. Thousands of lights enchanting the night sky, live entertainment, and other fun make this limited-time event, which doubles as a museum fundraiser, a real night to remember. The Holiday Trail of Lights is only open for three nights in December, so be sure to book your tickets early!

Lights, Magic, Action…Exercise!

The centerpiece of the Holiday Trail of Lights is, of course, the museum’s light display, which features thousands of lights. It’s a stunning sight that’s designed to enhance the natural beauty of the wildlife sanctuary and to enchant people of all ages. Hundreds of families attend each night of the event, enjoying the lights and the welcoming, festive atmosphere.

The Trail of Lights is approximately half a mile long, which means a relaxing stroll of about 30 minutes—or more, if you really want to take your time and enjoy every last spectacular sight. This is definitely one of the most enjoyable ways to get your daily exercise in—something that’s often difficult during this busy holiday period. But with all the delicious, high-calorie food we eat during family gatherings and parties, getting regular exercise is more important than ever!

Beyond the Lights

While the nature trail is the signature attraction of the Heard Museum Holiday Trail of Lights, there are other activities to enjoy, including live singing and dancing performances and carol singers. Kids can meet Father Christmas and Mother Nature and have their photos taken as mementos of the event.

Head to the concessions area for hot chocolate and seasonal treats, and enter the Family Fun Holiday Raffle, with prizes from local businesses, including the Coffee N Cream Coffeehouse, Frisco Rough Riders, and Storybook Ranch.

Live Performances

Each of the three nights, Victorian-era carolers sing as they stroll the nature trail. Each night features a different set of live performances.

Saturday, December 13: Acoustic guitar by Jimmy Barcus; choir performances by Willow Springs Middle School; Texas Star Dancers

Friday, December 19: Singing by Madison Whitehead; dancing by Tomecko Johnson; choir performance by St. Jude Catholic Church

Saturday, December 20: Music by Parker Station; dancing by Tomecko Johnson; singing by Madison Whitehead
