Aesthetic treatments for the scrotum and penis are gaining popularity in the United States. There are many reasons why men are dissatisfied with the look of their package, including wrinkled aging skin or routinely high riding (and small-looking) testicles. Treatments such as “Scrotox” can help with your self-confidence. While we cannot guarantee a better sex life, it may end up helping that too. At least some men report higher sensitivity which can lead to better sex.
What is Scrotox?
Scrotox, which is a colloquial term for testicular Botox, is a non-surgical treatment that can improve the appearance of your scrotum, in addition to enhancing sexual pleasure and can decreasing scrotal sweating. Scrotox can help relieve chronic scrotal pain and results so far have been very positive with men reporting significant relief. Another medical use for Scrotox is for men who have only mildly decreased sperm counts. Getting the testicles to hang lower can help keep testicular temperature lower, which can favor sperm production and motility.
A Scrotox treatment involves carefully injecting Botox into your scrotal skin and other scrotal structures. This in turn will help smooth out wrinkles on your scrotal skin and make your testicles look larger. Your testicles will usually drop and ride lower, like on a warm day, which also helps them look bigger.
The neurotoxin in Botox works by disrupting the nerve signals that are causing an unwanted effect or symptom. When placed by a knowledgeable and experienced physician, it can safely produce the desired effects.
You may have heard about using Botox to decrease facial wrinkles. The same principles apply here. When the treated tissues can no longer contract, wrinkles disappear, the testicles descend to a lower position, and your scrotum appears larger and younger.
Treating Scrotal Hyperhidrosis
While Botox is FDA-approved to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) in armpits, practitioners have found that it will effectively reduce sweating in other parts of the body, as well such as the scrotum. You may be especially interested in Scrotox if you struggle with scrotal skin conditions brought on my excessive moisture.
What Happens When Receiving Scrotox Treatments?
The procedure is quick and painless. We apply a topical anesthetic cream to numb the area to be injected. Several small injections are made with a fine needle into your scrotal skin, the thin dartos muscle, and other areas as indicated. The entire process takes less than five minutes and appointments usually take under 30 minutes. You can return to your regularly scheduled plans immediately so there are no worries about downtime. The only restrictions you will have are to avoid sexual activity or heavy lifting for a few hours after your injections.
You could experience minimal side effects, like:
- Swelling
- Numbness
- Bruising at the injection site
- Mild to moderate pain that should be able to be managed by OTC pain medications
- A feeling of tightness in your scrotum
If you notice any other side effects, you should call us immediately.
What About the Results?
Results are not immediate but they are worth waiting for. Botox will begin to produce visible effects in about three to seven days, and final results are usually seen in about two weeks. If you are not satisfied with the results, a touch-up treatment can be scheduled.
Scrotox results are not permanent. To prevent the return of wrinkled skin and high riding testicles, you will need Botox injections at about three-to-four-month intervals. Sweat reduction usually lasts longer and it may be up to seven months or more before you will need another injection. Problems like helping sperm count and motility have not been well studied, but if you were pursuing fertility treatments and your sperm counts were going down again, another injection should help.
