The HALO laser system that we offer uses two distinct wavelengths: one ablative and the other non-ablative. The ablative wavelength will remove the most superficial layers of your skin, which includes dead cells that are covering up your naturally glowing healthy skin. The non-ablative wavelength will spur on collagen and elastin production in the treated skin, which can lead to firmer skin and longer lasting results. Your new skin that is revealed will have much less pigmentation.
This laser system allows you to change the wavelengths used so that your treatments will be personalized to your body. While one person may be looking for overall skin improvement, another person may need treatment parameters for deeper acne scars, and someone else may hope to make the dark spots on their skin less noticeable.
All Sciton HALO laser treatments are performed in one of our locations, including Southlake, Plano, Frisco, and Dallas. If you are worried about pain or discomfort during the treatment, a topical anesthetic can be applied but it is not usually necessary. You will feel warmth from the treatment, but rarely pain.
The length of your appointment will depend on what areas of your body you are having treated, which can include the face, neck, chest, hands, arms, legs, or back. Most patients should expect between 1.5 and 2 hours.
Having more than one treatment of a given area will improve results, as each time you clear away a little more of the problem skin. Most patients consider having three to five treatments.
You may return to your regular schedule after a sessions; there is essentially no downtime. After a treatment your skin may be slightly redder than usual but this will resolve quickly. You may feel that the treated skin is irritated, but this, too, will fade quickly. It is rare to have swelling. Depending on what imperfections are being treated you might have a small “scab” appear where a lesion was. This is how your skin is shedding the damaged cells so that they can be replaced by healthy new ones.
You will usually see results within days. The laser will have stimulated collagen and elastin production so improvements will continue for a week or two, then remain for up to three months. If you have multiple treatments in more rapid succession in the beginning, you may find that your results will not last as long.
