Capsular Contracture Treatment

PLASTIC SURGEONS SERVING DALLAS, PLANO, SOUTHLAKE, AND NEARBY FORT WORTH, TEXAS

Capsular contracture occurs when the body overreacts to a breast implant, developing firm scar tissue that sometimes pulls the implant upward and outward. Capsular contracture treatment is done by addressing the four common causes of capsular contracture. The old breast implant is removed, and a new pocket is made separate from the old pocket. A textured implant is used because of its lowered risk for capsular contracture. The implant pocket is washed with antibiotics targeted at specific bacteria, and any remaining old blood is removed. Post-surgery, the patient is prescribed medication that decreases inflammation and the body’s tendency to react with capsular contracture and that treats the bacteria that cause capsular contracture.
