There are so many facial treatments available for virtually every skin problem, and thanks to technology, there’s also an array of solutions you can choose from. If you’re suffering from hyperpigmentation and melasma, you would also know that it can be difficult to treat.
Unfortunately, these uneven and bothersome spots on your face can make your confidence suffer, but fret not! Cosmelan® Depigmentation Treatment is here to effectively remove your worries away.
What is Cosmelan® Depigmentation Treatment?
This treatment traces its origins from Spain and is a multi-ingredient chemical treatment that aims to reduce hyperpigmentation and facial discoloration. To understand it better, it’s important to acquaint yourself with melanin, the naturally-occurring substance in the body responsible for giving our skin its color. People with darker skin have more melanin compared to people with lighter skin.
Hyperpigmentation or discoloration is a result of inconsistent melanin production. This can be observed on patches of skin with strikingly uneven colors. Cosmelan® corrects this by blocking Tyrosinase, effectively inhibiting melanin production.
This treatment differentiates from the rest in that it corrects the existing problem and prevents it from occurring in the long term, and you can see the results quickly – faster than any hyperpigmentation solution in the market. Because it doesn’t use lasers, it’s also the perfect choice for people with melasma who can’t undergo treatments that involve heat.
A Cosmelan® mask stays on for eight hours and is professionally applied at our office. The first step is a thorough but gentle cleansing of the face, followed by the application of a thick mask that contains Hydroquinone 8%, natural acids, and licorice extract.
After the patient removes the mask at home, they will start using Cosmelan® 2 maintenance products daily containing Hydroquinone 6%. The treatment consists of two professional masks spaced four weeks apart, and Cosmelan® 2 prescription strength products to use daily at home, and a moisturizer.
Although the mask will cover your entire face, only the areas that are blotchy or discolored will be affected. You will then be asked to go home, rest, and undergo another gentle cleansing at home after 6 to 8 hours to take off the Cosmelan® mask.
There are specific aftercare instructions that you will need to follow, such as the application of soothing moisturizer several times a day for two weeks, and then just once a day. And Sunscreen every 2 hrs. Two or three days following your Cosmelan® treatment, your skin will start peeling and revealing results of even-toned skin.
You will also be relieved to know that this procedure is perfect for any skin tone or ethnicity. After the peeling, you will see a significant reduction of dark spots that could have been caused by acne in the past, hyperpigmentation, and melasma.
Wave goodbye to creams that take too long to deliver and welcome this gentle, noninvasive, and quick solution to your skin discoloration woes. Avoiding direct sun exposure and using sunscreen every 2 hours is required during the healing time after each mask.
