Semaglutide Weight Loss Shots in Dallas

One of the biggest advancement in weight loss without surgery, semaglutide, is now being offered at our Med Spa at North Texas Plastic Surgery! Learn more about what is involved with semaglutide weight loss at our clinic in Dallas. We also offer this weight loss treatment in our Fort Worth, Frisco, Southlake, and Plano offices.

What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is a drug that was originally created for diabetes. It acts on the glucagon like peptide receptor-1 in the hypothalamus and hindbrain portions of the brain to make patients feel full. In so doing, it significantly reduces patients’ appetites causing them to lose significant amounts of weight. Thus, you can achieve some level of weight loss using semaglutide shots.

How Much Weight Can I Expect to Lose With Semaglutide Shots?

In the Step 5 trials, patients lost an AVERAGE of 16.7% of their total body weight! That means that a patient that weighed 200 lbs, could expect to get down to around 166 lbs. Someone that started at 175 lbs could get down to around 146 lbs, and someone that started at 150 lbs could expect to get down to around 125 lbs!!!

Studies have also shown that patients lost on average 5.7 inches off their waist! Imagine going from a 38-inch waist to a 32-inch waist without surgery!!!

For patients in Dallas looking to slim down from weight loss shots, it is important to continue eating a healthy diet and exercising in order to maintain results.

How Can It Help My Surgical Results?

If you are considering body contouring surgery, losing weight with semaglutide either before or after your surgery will only enhance your curves even more!!!

What Are the Side Effects of Semaglutide?

The majority of common side effects involve mild gastrointestinal issues such as nausea (average 5 days), vomiting (average 2 days), diarrhea (average 3 days), constipation (average 27 days). These may lessen over time but can still return after each injection. Over 94% of patients are able to tolerate these side effects without stopping the Semaglutide.

Rare side effects include the development of gallstones (4.9% of patients), and pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas). In animals, semaglutide has been associated with the development of a rare type of cancer known as Medullary Carcinoma of the thyroid type 2. This has not been shown to happen with significant frequency in humans.

How Long Will I Be on Semaglutide For?

The largest weight loss is seen over the first 6 months of semaglutide use. That being said, studies have now shown that semaglutide can be used for two years with continued weight loss over this time.

What is a Slim Shot and How Can It Help?

A Slim Shot consists of Methionine, Inositol, Choline, and B-Vitamins. This combination helps speed up your metabolism, helps breakdown and metabolize fats and carbohydrates, helps prevent anemia, and helps give you energy. A slim shot can be combined with your Semaglutide treatment in Dallas to further speed up your weight loss and give your energy throughout the process.

Are There Oral Forms of Semaglutide?

Yes, there are oral forms of semaglutide; however, in head-to-head studies, patients lost roughly twice as much weight using the injectable form of semaglutide.

Are There Other Drugs That I Can Use Instead of Semaglutide Shots in Dallas?

Liraglutide is another glucagon like peptide receptor-1 analogue; however, semaglutide has been shown in head-to-head studies to provide more weight loss than Liraglutide.

Phetntermine is a very effective weight loss drug but is associated with cardiovascular problems such as heart valve defects and pulmonary hypertension.

Orlistat has been shown to help lose weight; however, the weight loss is significantly less than with semaglutide and patients can have significant steattorhea (oily diarrhea). It has also been associated with renal failure and liver damage.

Who is a Candidate for Semaglutide?

Patients in Dallas who are overweight but do not suffer from diabetes, cancer, heart, liver or kidney problems, and do not have a history of medullary cancer of the thyroid type 2 are candidates for semaglutide therapy at North Texas Plastic Surgery.

While semaglutide was originally created as a diabetes drug, the use of semaglutide for weight loss in patients with diabetes should be managed by an endocrinologist.
