Tummy Tuck: Abdominoplasty

By Sacha Obaid

Thinking about getting a tummy tuck to remove excess fat or skin? Do your research first to find out what is involved, who the best doctors are, how much it will cost, etc. This checklist provides several basic questions you may want to ask when considering this procedure. Answers to some of these questions may help sway your decision one way or another. Brush up on the questions you need to ask before getting a tummy tuck.

Some of these questions include asking your surgeon if they are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Another question to ask is if they were specifically trained in the field of plastic surgery. A board-certified plastic surgeon, rather than another kind of doctor, is much more likely to ensure that you don’t have scars after a tummy tuck. Sure, a liposuction surgeon might be able to perform the surgery, but they may not stitch you up as well.

You should also ask which hospitals the surgeon has performed surgery in, so you can do your research on those hospitals to find out about their procedures.
