Why Should I Consider Eyelid Surgery?

Reshaping the Eyelids | Dallas Eyelid surgeryOur eyes are one of the first places that we begin to show our age. Excess skin and fat in your eyelids can cause you to appear tired and older than you actually are. Sagging of the eyelids can cause you to appear sleepy or uninterested in the person you are talking to or doing business with. In severe cases, the excess eyelid skin can actually block vision causing a functional problem as well.

Is It a Big Surgery?

Eyelid reshaping is a relatively small surgery that can be done on outpatient basis. Unless you have other surgeries performed at the same time, you will be able to go home the same day with little discomfort and just a few eye drops to help keep your eyes moist and comfortable.

Most patients are able to return to normal daily activities in two to three days. For patients that work, you should plan to be out at least a week to prevent any bruising from being noticed by your co-workers or clients.

Can Eyelid Surgery Be Performed at the Same Time as Other Surgeries?

The surgeon at North Texas Plastic Surgery often performs eyelid rejuvenation at the same time he is working on other parts of the face or body. Most commonly, Dr. Obaid performs the eyelid surgery in conjunction with a facelift or brow lift to fully rejuvenate the face.

Will the Scars Be Noticeable?

The scars for a blepharoplasty are placed within the natural eyelid creases. As a result, once you are healed, it is nearly impossible to tell if someone has had an eyelid rejuvenation.

Will I Look Natural?

Dr. Obaid has extensive experience with blepharoplasty. During eyelid surgery, Dr. Obaid will remove the extra skin and fat from your eyelids while taking great care to leave just the right amount of fat behind to give you a full youthful look. He will not pull your skin tight or hollow out your eyelids which can make you look different but not younger.

Will Eyelid Surgery Affect My Vision?

In patients with severe cases, excess eyelid skin can partially obscure a patient’s vision. For these patients, eyelid rejuvenation may improve their field of vision, but for most patients there is no change in vision after the surgery.
