A facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, addresses signs of aging by removing excess skin and tightening underlying tissues. This procedure is a dramatic, all-in-one treatment that can reduce many of the most common cosmetic signs of aging, like sagging and deep lines, and. It also addresses excess skin on your neck, which tends to be a highly-requested treatment for male patients in particular. Here’s what our Frisco patients can expect with a facelift at NTPS:
During your facelift at our in-office surgical facility, you’ll be totally asleep, so that you can rest comfortably during the procedure. You will need to arrange for a ride home afterward.
Your plastic surgeon will customize your facelift to suit your needs, starting with strategic incisions usually made around the hairline and ears. These incisions are designed to be discreet and minimize visible scarring. We will then lift and reposition the skin, remove excess tissue, and tighten the underlying muscles to create a smoother, firmer appearance. If needed, we may also perform additional contouring to enhance your facial features, and reposition your hairline.
Importantly, it is still normal to have wrinkles, and some lines should still remain (though softened) instead of a completely smooth face being pulled tight.
Our goal is to ensure that your incisions are well-hidden and that your recovery is as smooth as possible.
Following your facelift, you’ll receive detailed instructions for a smooth recovery. There should be fairly limited pain after a facelift and most patients will not require pain relieving medication. We will conduct another exam after one or two days, at which point we will give you the green light to shower and wash your hair.
Stitches in the face can be removed after 5 to 7 days, at which point you should also be cleared to return to (non-intensive) work.
During the first 3 weeks, you should avoid strenuous activities, including exercising. You’ll need to take care of yourself by resting and avoiding any activities that could strain your healing skin. You will also be advised to avoid the sun during these initial weeks. We will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and address any concerns.
