Eyelid Surgery in Plano

Eyelid Surgery in Plano

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is one of the most precision-driven procedures in the category of surgical facial rejuvenation—and when expertly performed, the transformation can redefine the way your entire face is perceived. Whether excess upper eyelid skin creates a heavy, tired appearance, lower eyelid puffiness adds years to your look, or both concerns are affecting your appearance, a blepharoplasty in Plano can restore definition and create a more energized, eye-catching expression.

At North Texas Plastic Surgery, our plastic surgeons—board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery or the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery—work with an artistic understanding of facial balance to create a customized plan around your anatomy, goals, and vision.

Planning Your Blepharoplasty Consultation

Exceptional blepharoplasty results begin with seeing the entire picture. During your eyelid surgery consultation at our Plano office, we will perform a detailed evaluation of your upper and lower eyelid anatomy, assessing skin laxity, the position and volume of underlying fat, brow height, and how each of these elements interacts with the rest of your face.

For upper eyelid surgery, your surgeon may remove excess skin and, when appropriate, excise some of the fat contributing to hooding or heaviness. Lower eyelid surgery can address prominent fat pockets and hollowing through strategic fat repositioning or removal, often combined with skin tightening when laxity is present. When both the upper and lower eyelids are contributing to an aged or fatigued appearance, treating them together can create a more comprehensive transformation.

Your own history can also provide valuable insight. If you have photographs from five to 10 years ago, bring them to your consultation. These images can help your surgeon understand how your eyes have changed over time and develop a restoration strategy tailored specifically to you.

What Happens During Blepharoplasty?

During upper eyelid surgery, your surgeon typically places the incision within the natural crease of the eyelid, allowing the scar to remain concealed when your eyes are open. Excess skin can then be removed, fat addressed as needed, and the incision meticulously closed with fine sutures.

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty can be performed through an incision just below the lash line or through a transconjunctival approach from inside the eyelid, which avoids an external incision. The transconjunctival technique can be particularly effective when excess fat is the primary concern and significant skin laxity is not present. We will select the technique that best complements your anatomy and desired outcome.

If brow descent is contributing to upper eyelid heaviness, combining blepharoplasty with a brow lift may provide a more powerful transformation. By addressing the relationship between the brows and eyelids, our elite plastic surgeons can create greater definition and a more balanced, refreshed appearance.

What Is the Recovery Timeline?

After blepharoplasty, bruising and swelling are generally most pronounced during the first several days before steadily improving over a few days. Cold compresses, keeping your head elevated, and limiting activities that strain the eyes (including extended screen use during the first few days) can support the healing process.

Around 10 to 14 days after surgery, many patients feel comfortable returning to public activities, although makeup can be used to conceal any remaining bruising once your surgeon has cleared you to do so. Strenuous exercise, bending, and heavy lifting should generally be avoided for approximately three to four weeks.

As swelling continues to resolve, your new eyelid contours will become increasingly defined. Most patients see the majority of their result emerge around six to eight weeks after surgery, while the incision lines continue to mature and fade over the following months. If you have non-dissolvable sutures, we will remove them after one week.
