The Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is a two-for-one body sculpting procedure: taking fat from unwanted areas, and inserting it into your buttocks for a better shape.

Many of our patients have spoken to us about their naturally “flat,” “droopy,” or “saggy” butt, which is usually caused by age, pregnancy or genetics. Even the healthiest diet and exercise regimen can only do so much to improve the shape and sometimes you need a little bit of professional help. Our Brazilian butt lift in Fort Worth helps you go from flat to fabulous, making your curves smoother, firmer, more lifted, and perkier like never before.

If you are considering undergoing this procedure in Fort Worth, Dallas, Plano, or Southlake, our exceptionally talented plastic surgeons will explain what is involved and what you need to do.

What is a BBL?

BBL stands for Brazilian butt lift. It is a surgical procedure that originated in Brazil and uses advanced fat transfer techniques to enhance your butt and curves, giving you a gorgeous silhouette. Liposuction targets and removes stubborn fat from areas you define as problematic, such as the thighs, hips, stomach, lower back, and underarms – and transfers it to your backside to give it a better shape.

Who is a Good Candidate for This Procedure?

The ideal candidate for a Brazilian butt lift in Fort Worth is someone who:

  • Is in overall good health
  • Is close to their ideal body weight
  • Does not smoke, vape, or use recreational drugs.

During your consultation, you will be required to share your medical and surgical history, family history, supplement use, and recreational drug use with our team. We will determine if we can safely perform a BBL for you, but may make lifestyle change recommendations to ensure that you are an ideal candidate.

The beauty of the BBL is that it requires transferring fat from other areas of your body; however, some of our patients do not have excess fat. In these cases, we recommend a buttocks augmentation with solid silicone implants placed intramuscularly. This means that the implants will be placed in the middle of the gluteus maximus muscle so that the edges of the implants are less visible and difficult to feel. It also makes it much harder for anyone to tell that the you have butt implants.

The incision for the implants is placed in between the two buttock cheeks to conceal it. This is generally performed as an outpatient procedure, with a 10-day recovery time.

The BBL Procedure: How It Works

The BBL experience begins with VASER ultrasound-assisted liposuction which uses ultrasound waves to release the fat from the surrounding tissue. With this technology, our plastic surgeons can extract more fat than what would be possible with traditional liposuction techniques, with less bleeding and bruising.

Our plastic surgeons also use FAGA, a unique power-assisted liposuction system from Brazil. FAGA allows the cannulas to rapidly advance forward and backward at a rate of 3,000-5,000 times a minute! This incredible speed allows us to eliminate more fat safely and efficiently for our patients.

The fat that is removed from your problem areas is then purified with laboratory-grade equipment. This prevents bacterial contamination, which could cause infection and decrease the amount of fat that survives the fat transfer. The purified fat is then injected into the buttocks using our advanced FAGA system combined with special large bore injection cannulas with flared tips, which ensures it does not hit muscles or critical blood vessels.

At the end of your BBL surgical procedure, you will be placed in a specialized compression garment, known as a “faja.” We have imported this garment from Colombia for your benefit.

Please note that the Brazilian butt lift is a cosmetic procedure which aims to contour the shape of the butt. It is not a medical procedure and there are no medical or health problems that it can address.

Are the Effects of a Brazilian Butt Lift Permanent?

Studies show that 50-70% of the fat that is transferred with a BBL will “take” – the rest is typically reabsorbed by the body. The fat that takes will be part of your body permanently. Our advanced VASER system allows fat to be removed in smaller, easier-to-take packets, giving it the highest possibility of fat take.

Before getting a Brazilian butt lift in Fort Worth, our plastic surgeons will scan your body into our unique Crisalix 3-Dimensional imaging system. This will allow us to give you a snapshot of what you could look like when all is said and done. It will also allow you to participate in the design of your BBL so that everything is done according to your wishes.

Recovery Phase of the Buttocks Augmentation

You may be cleared to leave following your surgery, or, in cases of a more extensive surgery or if you have more than one surgery, you may be required to stay overnight.

Your recovery period will last around 10 days and it is essential to be active. You should be out and about, walking and moving as much as possible. In addition, you will be working on pulmonary exercises to help you recover and should drink plenty of fluids. You will be provided with a compression garment designed to help decrease the swelling after the procedure.

Within two weeks following the Brazilian butt lift, most patients are able to return to a non-physical job. You will have to refrain from sitting for the first three weeks after the surgery. After that point, you will be using a BBL pillow to help take the pressure off.

Around week six, the transferred fat should be fully grafted and stabilized and you can resume a normal level of activity, including fat-burning and higher-impact exercise. Your final results should be visible roughly six months following your BBL in Fort Worth.

What if I Gain or Lose Weight After a Butt Lift?

The fat elimination from your butt lift will be permanent, but your body can still change if you lose or gain weight. If you gain weight, your buttocks will increase in size, and if you lose weight, your buttocks will decrease in size. For this reason, our plastic surgeons strongly recommend that you are as close as possible to your goal weight prior to the surgery.

If you desire to augment, reduce, or reshape your previous results, we can make it happen. Our plastic surgeons in Fort Worth can perform a revision or secondary BBL for our clients.

Can I Have a Tummy Tuck With BBL?

For patients who have had a baby or who have lost significant weight in the past, our plastic surgeons can combine a tummy tuck with a Brazilian butt lift so that you can have the benefits of both in one appointment. All at once, you can enjoy improvement in two problem areas: loose skin in the abdomen as well as enhancing the shape and curvature of your buttocks.

Many of our clients are worried about having loose skin following their procedure. To help prevent the formation of loose skin, our VASER liposuction system tightens the skin as fat is removed. In addition, we offer the most advanced skin tightening technology on the market today, the BodyTite, which allows our plastic surgeons to heat the underside of your skin to 160 °F. This has been shown to cause a permanent 35% skin retraction without additional scars! If you are concerned about loose skin after your Brazilian butt lift, please inquire about the possibility of adding BodyTite to your treatment.
