Our eyes are the windows to the soul. But what message are we sending when our eyelids are droopy, wrinkled, or full of bags? Fortunately, these can all be fixed with a blepharoplasty – eyelid surgery – in Fort Worth. We also have offices in Dallas, Frisco, Southlake, and Plano.
Although they are small, certain cosmetic eye concerns can make you look like you haven’t gotten any sleep. You may be the ideal candidate for eyelid surgery in Fort Worth if any or all of the following applies to you:
Not everyone is an ideal candidate for eyelid surgery. To ensure that you are the right candidate, book a consultation at our in-office surgical facility. During this consultation, you will meet with an expert plastic surgeon who will thoroughly assess you, identify your medical history, and ensure that you are the right candidate for a blepharoplasty! If you are not a suitable candidate for the surgical procedure at this time, we would be happy to recommend one of our alternative non-surgical procedures to help you get a refreshed look.
The blepharoplasty procedure generally takes between one and three hours at our in-office surgical center in Fort Worth or one of our other offices. The procedure can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both, and involves removing excess fat and skin around the eyes, giving you a refreshed appearance. For your comfort, we will administer general anesthesia – although local anesthesia may be possible for some people.
During the upper eyelid surgery procedure, a facial plastic surgeon makes an incision along the natural crease of the upper eyelid in order to remove the excess skin and fat. In addition, excess or redundant layers of or ocular is oculi muscle can be removed to provide sleeker look. A suture will close the incision, which will take approximately a week to heal. In the lower eyelid surgery procedure, the incision is made directly below the eyelashes or on the inside of the lower lid. Rejuvenating the lower lid consists of removing or repositioning the lower eyelid fat that causes the bags to appear under the eyes and tightening of the lower eyelid skin. In addition, the lower lid can be supported upwards with the performance of a canthopexy.
As the surgical incisions are created along the natural creases of the eye, the resulting scars (if any) are cleverly concealed and almost completely unnoticeable!
Though the surgery itself can be completed in a couple of hours, you will need to take the day off of work and have someone drive you home afterward. We also provide eye drops to keep your eyes from drying out.
Recovery from blepharoplasty is quite easy. Most patients are able to work from home the following day. We typically recommend that patients plan to stay out of the public eye for 10-14 days; however, because while they may feel great, there will be bruising and swelling which can be difficult to disguise. Patients should be back to the gym for cardio at three weeks and weights and yoga at 6 weeks.
Often touted as the most attractive features of your face, the appearance of your eyes can really have a strong impact on your overall appearance! If you are experiencing cosmetic eye concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, bags, or hooded eyelids—come to North Texas Plastic Surgery, we can have you looking refreshed in no time with eyelid surgery in Fort Worth.
