Chin Reshaping in Fort Worth

Chin Reshaping in Fort Worth

The chin is one of the most central and prominent features of the face and can truly impact your facial bone structure. Men and women alike experience disrupted confidence and self-esteem due to the presence of a double chin, weak chin, or soft chin. On the other end of the spectrum, a chin that is too prominent or projecting can be equally as detrimental.

Facial plastic surgery can help our patients who wish to alter the appearance of their chin, helping them feel more attractive by harmonizing and balancing their facial features. Chin reshaping is available to residents of Fort Worth in the form of implants, bone advancement, and filler augmentation. We consult with you to determine the best option for you.

What Is Chin Reshaping Surgery?

Chin reshaping surgery is a targeted procedure that permanently alters the profile of your face by either inserting an implant or surgically advancing the bone structure itself through a small fracture. Your chin can also be augmented non-surgically with dermal filler to add volume and definition to the chin and jawline. Chin reshaping is ideal for male patients who want a stronger, more angular chin, or female patients who are looking for it to be softer and less prominent.

A chin reshaping surgery for Fort Worth patients can fix the appearance of a:

  • Baby face
  • Moon face
  • Overly rounded face
  • Double chin
  • Weak chin
  • Soft chin

In almost all cases, a chin reshaping surgery results in a well-defined and chiseled face, and a more angular jawline that highlights your ideal shape.

Surgical chin alteration can powerfully influence the overall bone structure of the face. Along with the nose and eyes, the chin is a primary focal area of the face and plays a big role in lending symmetry to your presentation. Our plastic surgeons aim for a balanced harmony to your face, no matter what your initial concerns are.

Types of Chin Reshaping Procedures

There are a few ways we can reshape your chin, which can be discussed during a consultation in our Fort Worth office. We may even use a combination of the following techniques to help you achieve your desired results.

Non-surgical augmentation: One of our aestheticians can enhance the look of your chin with dermal fillers, a highly-favored non-surgical option because they are quick and minimally invasive. They can effectively address concerns such as a weak or recessed chin while providing natural-looking results, with little to no downtime.

Chin implants: Our plastic surgeons can insert a customized implant designed to permanently add definition to your chin and jawline. This procedure is ideal for patients who wish for a more permanent solution to correct a weak or recessed chin. Implants come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit different facial structures. The surgery is typically performed under anesthesia and involves making a small, carefully-concealed incision either underneath the chin or inside the mouth, through which the implant is inserted and positioned securely. Recovery time is relatively short, with most patients returning to normal activities within a week.

Osseous Genioplasty: We can expertly define your chin bone by surgically advancing or reducing it so that it harmonizes with your facial features. This procedure is best suited for patients with more significant chin concerns who require structural changes. In this procedure, we make precise cuts in the chin bone, allowing for surgical repositioning. Recovery time usually takes a few weeks, depending on the patient. Osseous genioplasty offers permanent results that can last a lifetime.

Your Chin Reshaping Treatment and Recovery

Your chin reshaping surgery will occur in our in-office surgical facility in Southlake and will be administered under anesthesia. We develop the cosmetic plan with your face in mind and customize it to your specifications. You should be able to go home the same day.

The recovery period should not impede you from carrying out your normal everyday activities, and you can eat and drink most things as you heal. After a couple of days, you may be able to return to your job that does not require much physical activity. If your work requires high-impact activity (such as construction), we recommend that you stay home for at least two weeks.

In general, we recommend abstaining from exercise or high-impact activity for at least three weeks. The total healing time, depending on the extent of your procedure, will take one to two months. For most patients, results from the chin reshaping surgical procedure will be fully apparent after a few weeks. During your initial consultation with our specialists, once we have a chance to review your medical history, we can provide a more personalized set of expectations and guidelines, including your recovery timeline.

Will My Results From My Chin Reshaping Be Permanent?

Dermal fillers will last several months but can always be updated. Chin implants will provide a longer-lasting fix but may need to be altered or replaced down the road since they might not stay in place permanently. If you decide to go for the osseous genioplasty, that is a more permanent solution. You can also come in for follow-up appointments with Kybella shots, which can reduce the fat under your chin and keep your jawline looking strong.
