Getting older doesn’t mean having to look older. The lines, wrinkles, and folds on that develop on the face and neck are a natural occurrence that happens to everyone as they age. It’s the result of years of laughing, smiling, frowning, and repeated muscle contractions from a range of emotions. And as the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin slow over time, these signs of aging become more permanent.
At North Texas Plastic Surgery, we’re happy to provide our patients with various options for rejuvenating their face and bodies to help them look as great as they feel inside. Our Med Spa services are designed to offer minimally-invasive procedures that bring tremendous quality to those who have them. One of the newest options we offer is Ultherapy® to help those looking to revitalize their skin for a more youthful complexion.
If you’d like to learn more about Ultherapy® and wish to schedule a complimentary consultation with our skincare specialists, please contact us by filling out the form on this page or by calling us at 817-416-8080 today. We proudly provide quality plastic surgery services to those who live in and near Dallas, Southlake, and Plano, Texas.
What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is a non-surgical treatment designed to tighten the skin to provide patients with a younger appearance. The procedure uses ultrasound energy to rejuvenate the skin and reinvigorate the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin. This treatment is the only FDA-approved non-invasive procedure to lift skin and address signs of aging across the upper body.
Not only does Ultherapy® use ultrasound energy to stimulate the skin-tightening effects of collagen and elastin, but it also uses ultrasound imaging to enable skincare specialists the ability to see within the layers of skin and ensure the therapy is penetrating to the deepest levels for maximum results.
Ultherapy® is used to rejuvenate:
- Under the chin
While many medical spa treatments focus entirely on the face and head area, Ultherapy® includes its Décolletage Treatment, which is the only FDA-approved non-invasive treatment to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines on the chest.
The Ultherapy® Treatment
What makes Ultherapy® unique is its use of ultrasound energy to jumpstart the body’s natural skin rejuvenating processes. No serums, lasers, needles, or topical creams are used in this procedure. Instead, focused ultrasound energy penetrates deep into the skin with precise depth and temperature for collagen and elastin stimulation. Because of its use of energy, the treatment doesn’t affect the surface of the skin like surgical or minimally-invasive procedures do.
This treatment is great for those who may not be candidates for a facelift or neck lift or for those who wish to rejuvenate their appearance without surgery. It also requires no downtime after the procedure, which itself generally only takes between 30 to 90 minutes depending on the areas being treated, so you can return to work or resume your normal activities without worry.
Side-effects are generally rare, although some patients may experience flushing or redness on the treated area for up to an hour after treatment and some may even experience minor swelling or tingling, which is temporary as well.
While some people see initial effects immediately after the treatment, most will see their results develop over a period of 2-3 months. This is because the ultrasound energy stimulates the skin’s rejuvenation processes over an extended period of time. During this time, you’ll notice the skin tighten in the treated areas. How long the results last is dependent on your body and varies by individual. Future treatments may be necessary to maintain the skin-tightening effects you desire.
Candidates for Ultherapy®
As with any procedure, surgical or non-invasive, it’s important to make sure that you’re cleared for treatment. Our skincare specialists will go over all of the details of the treatment and determine your candidacy during a comprehensive consultation. Generally, most adults who have mild to moderate skin laxity can undergo this treatment. However, there are certain things that may make some individuals unable to have Ultherapy®.
To ensure the safety of the treatment, patients should not:
- Have any open lesions or wounds in the treatment area
- Have severe or cystic acne in the area to be treated
- Have active or metallic implants in the areas to be treated
Ultherapy® has also not been evaluated for use in individuals that:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have an autoimmune disease
- Suffer from epilepsy or Bell’s palsy
- Have diabetes
