Receding Hairline Treatment in Dallas and Southlake

Receding Hairline Treatment in Dallas and Southlake

Just because you inherited the family receding hair line does not mean you have to live with it. Both men and women can inherit a variety of hair loss patterns, and other causes for hair loss can include stress, hormone changes, and medications.

At North Texas Plastic Surgery, we understand how you may feel that your receding hairline is making you look old. We know you want treatments that will work. During your first consultation with one of our board-certified or board-eligible plastic surgeons we will discuss how the hair restoration treatments offered for Dallas and Southlake patients can help bring that hairline back where you would like it to be.

ARTAS iX Robotic Hair Restoration

At North Texas Plastic Surgery, we use the state-of-the-art ARTAS iX robotic hair restoration system to treat hair loss of all kinds—overall thinning, receding hairline, and bald spots. This FDA-cleared system provides follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplantation with the added precision that robotics can give, along with the control of artificial intelligence algorithms.

Traditional FUE hair transplantation procedures are a lengthy task, since a physician must pick each follicle, harvest them, and transplant them into the recipient area. Imagine needing to do this for hundreds or even thousands of hair follicles!

The ARTAS iX system first puts its robotic arms and high-definition stereoscopic vision system to work mapping your scalp and hair follicles. The data is stored to determine the best donor sites and the precise area to place them. The AI system picks the best donor follicles while still keeping a random pattern of follicle removal to avoid tiny bald spots in the donor area(s). You will never see a scar line. The transplant pattern is also carefully planned so that hair growth from the transplanted follicles will match well with surrounding hair growth patterns. All this work keeps the results looking natural, both at the donor and the recipient hair sites.

What to Expect After

The hairs that are in the transplanted follicles are routinely shed within the first few weeks after transplant. This is not a problem as the follicles are still present. As they establish themselves under your skin, hair growth will start. This means that you will not really see appreciable hair growth for about four to six months. Once follicles are growing hair back along your hairline, they are permanent.

Our Dallas and Southlake patients have been delighted with the results, and to make it better: the process itself is virtually pain free! Topical anesthetics keep you comfortable during the procedure and over-the-counter pain medications will work well afterwards. There is no stitching involved and no scars to hide later.

Recovery is quicker than traditional FUE procedures, with most patients taking only one or two days off work.

PRP Hairline Restoration

If you do not feel ready for hair transplantation or if you want to boost the results of your ARTAS procedure, you may want to have PRP hair restoration treatments. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) can help silenced hair follicles come back to life in areas of hair loss, and can stimulate active follicles to grow thicker caliber hair. PRP works by increasing blood supply to the hair follicles and by delivering growth factors to the follicles as well. The PRP also appears to protect hair follicles from prematurely losing the attached strands.

After your blood is drawn, it is spun in a centrifuge to separate out the plasma that is richest in blood cells and proteins. This super plasma is injected into the hairline, or wherever you would like to see growth. The entire session lasts about 45 minutes.

How Long Until My Hairline Comes Back?

You will need to wait about three months before you will see the results of a PRP treatment but you can schedule sessions every four to six months. These sessions can be used to extend the treatment area or renew old treatment areas where the effects of the PRP are decreasing. You will set up these plans in consultation with your plastic surgeon. If you are using PRP to boost the results of your ARTAS treatment, we will let you know the best time schedule follow-ups.
