North Texas Plastic Surgery was founded in Southlake and Plano, Texas by Dr. Sacha Obaid. Before he was a well-respected and experienced board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Obaid grew up in sunny Southern California, where he was a star water polo player and swimmer.
This dream of helping children took him to New York City, where Dr. Obaid trained in craniofacial surgery at the prestigious New York University Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery. There Dr. Obaid learned how to reconstruct the faces of children born with cleft lip, cleft palate, craniosynostosis, and other major deformations of the bones and soft tissues of the face.
It was also at NYU’s Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery that Dr. Obaid realized that the only way to truly understand the face and how to rejuvenate it is to understand how to take it apart and rebuild it from its most basic elements.
Your confidence is my mission. We accomplish this together by combining your desired outcome with my artist eye and meticulous attention to detail.
Dr. Jeremy Bosworth is an aesthetic fellowship trained plastic surgeon who was born and raised in beautiful Southern California. He feels that his ability to connect with his patients and see their visions and goals is what sets him apart, and using his extensive training he is able to then make those visions a reality.
Dr. Jacob Carlson grew up in Arkansas, where he attended Little Rock Catholic High School. After graduating as the valedictorian of his class, he enrolled in the Medical Scholars Program at Saint Louis University. He graduated summa cum laude with a major in Biology.
Dr. Carlson graduated medical school from the University of Arkansas. He completed a five-year General Surgery residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
He completed a three-year fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Florida, where he served as the chief resident. While at the University of Florida, he trained extensively in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, including microvascular surgery, as well as operations to address hand injuries, facial injuries, and craniofacial anomalies. While training in residency and fellowship, he authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and received several awards for his work in research and presentations at national surgery conferences. Dr. Carlson is now a board eligible Plastic Surgeon.
During his Aesthetic Surgery fellowship with Dr. Sacha Obaid at North Texas Plastic Surgery, he learned the intricacies of aesthetic breast surgery, body contouring, and facial aesthetic surgery. Working alongside Dr. Obaid, he developed a greater appreciation for the surgical techniques and skills necessary to provide consistent quality results for his patients. His philosophy on patient care centers on open and honest communication with his patients. He believes that each patient’s treatment plan should be individualized to address their respective concerns. Dr. Carlson states that his primary goals with surgery are patient safety and producing results that make his patients feel rejuvenated and more confident in their body.
When he is not in the operating room, he enjoys spending time with his fiancée Olivia and her Goldendoodle, watching sports, running, attending local and national surgery conferences, and stand-up comedy.
Dr. Carlson has been featured on the Behind the Beauty podcast.
North Texas Plastic Surgery is excited to present our fellow surgeon chosen for the 2024/2025 Fellowship Program. Dr. Arvind Manisundaram was hand-selected by Dr. Sacha Obaid, and your care and surgery will be provided by Dr. Arvind Manisundaram under the supervision of Dr. Obaid.
Dr. Obaid interviewed many candidates looking for the right surgeons to join our practice for this highly coveted Fellowship Program at North Texas Plastic Surgery. He recognized the special attributes and leadership skills of Dr. Manisundaram, which are compatible with the high standards of Dr. Obaid and North Texas Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Manisundaram (Dr. Mani for short!) originally grew up in Mississippi. He first began his initial tour of Texas by attending Rice University for his undergraduate training, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude with induction into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He then made his first move to Dallas, where he obtained his medical degree at UT Southwestern.
Dr. Mani was always drawn toward surgery – the combination of functional anatomy with disease, and the ability of surgeons to physically address and even cure patients fascinated him. Following medical school, Dr. Mani spent a year in San Antonio doing general surgery, and he then moved to Buffalo, New York, to complete his general surgery residency. There, he focused on learning the full breadth of general surgery, from robotic/minimally invasive surgery to surgical oncology, vascular, and trauma surgery specialties. Yet, the procedures that most fascinated him were those in plastic surgery – where a variety of reconstructive techniques were utilized to help restore patient’s function as well as appearance.
At the completion of his general surgery residency, he went on to complete a highly competitive, three-year fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UT Health Science Center in Houston. Here, he received extensive training in the fields of aesthetic surgery, microsurgery, craniofacial surgery, and hand/facial trauma. While he focused on becoming a well-rounded plastic surgeon, Dr. Mani had a natural interest in being mindful of the aesthetics of each procedure in addition to the functional outcome. This became further developed during his chief fellowship year, when he spent two months at the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery in Houston. There, he found his passion in aesthetic surgery such as rhinoplasties, facelifts, and breast/body contouring procedures under the tutelage of some of the busiest leaders in the field.
While Dr. Mani has continued to focus on honing his skills as a surgeon, he has strived to balance this with mentorship and education. His commitment to teaching medical students and fellow residents were recognized throughout his training, with awards such as the Gold Foundation Humanism award, Resident Teacher of the Year award, and Best Overall Resident award. Furthermore, when counseling patients, he has enjoyed drawing from his experience as a personal trainer to help patients attain their own personal goals. Dr. Mani is a fully-trained, board-eligible plastic and reconstructive surgeon, and he is also board-certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
Outside of surgery, Dr. Mani enjoys spending time with his wife, a current colorectal surgery fellow at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. They spend their free time sampling the various restaurants in Dallas, exercising, and traveling both within the US and abroad.
